About the PTA

The mission of the Las Lomitas PTA is to foster academic excellence and the social well being of all of the students in conjunction and cooperation with the school administration and staff. The PTA strives to build community to enrich school climate and cultivate strong home-school relations. We design and run numerous programs throughout the year with the support of many parent and staff volunteers. The result is a strong community of concerned and involved families and school professionals.

We are a part of the California State PTA whose mission is to have a positive impact on the lives of all children and families by representing their members and supporting them with skills in advocacy, leadership, and communication.

The Las Lomitas PTA Executive Board meets monthly, usually the first Wednesday of the month. Our general membership meets at least two times per year.

ROLES & RESPONSIBILTIES


President – Manages the Las Lomitas PTA. Requires a three year term.

1st Vice President – Manages the school-wide assembly program as well as numerous executive board duties. Next in line to the Presidency.

Treasurer – Manages the finances of the PTA including income, expenses, taxes, and dues.

Secretary - Takes minutes of all board meetings and publishes them to the PTA website and to the PTA membership.

2nd VP, Volunteer Coordinator - Runs the Volunteer Fair the first week of school to recruit volunteers to all of the committees. This volunteer is responsible for managing the fair, signing up volunteers and distributing the volunteer lists to the appropriate committee chairs.

3rd VP, Hot Food - Manages the Hot Food program at Las Lomitas. Is responsible for selecting the vendor, managing the contracts and payments for the school year. Works closely with the Hot Food Day Chair to coordinate parent volunteers.

4th VP, Membership - responsible for maintaining a database of certain payments to the PTA (including basic membership, holiday workshop and memory book). The Membership VP works closely with the Treasurer. It requires a two year commitment.

Parliamentarian – Former President who attends all executive board meetings.
